The fashion industry is tight knit, EVERYWHERE. I thought the best way to get a feel for the French scene was to approach agencies to either get feedback on my portfolio, test with new talent or assist the stylists on their books. I was quite nervous but straight off I hit the jackpot. I was hired to assist Bristish stylist Tamara Cincik (She is so on point, its nothing but inspiring!) on the next campaign for the French brand Make Up Forever. I crashed and burned on MOST of my other attempts with the agencies but it didnt matter I had this window of opportunity. Now the work of an assistant isn't glamourous, I was well aware I would be doing the schlepping, steaming, unpacking, repacking, dressing, lunch runs ..... but I did not care I was ready to work my ass off. I had a birdseye view of how the French productions run. The team were really big compared to Australia with a lot of input from everyone. It was a great ambiance, bright creatives rockin' their thing, sometimes I love my job although I would drop dead on my feet each night. I can't wait to see the final images. Oh and best of all everyone spoke english, spanish or french. So much better than coming across with the conversation capacity of a 3yr old.
